DAY 1 NEGOMBO
Your tour commences with an arrival transfer to your hotel in the seaside village of Negombo. Enjoy the comforts of this beautiful property nestled next to the beach and dotted with palm trees. (D)

DAY 2 NEGOMBO – SIGIRIYA ROCK FORTRESS – HABARANA

Depart Negombo and travel along the bustling Kandy Road past small villages, chaotic towns and roadside carts selling an array of local produce. On arrival in Habarana and check in to the Cinnamon Lodge, an eco-friendly hotel set in 27 acres of wooded gardens. This afternoon travel to nearby Sigiriya Rock Fortress, or Lion Rock, one of Sri Lanka’s most iconic sights. Take the opportunity to climb to the top of this striking rock with its sheer vertical walls supporting the remnants of an ancient 5th century city. (B, D)

DAY 3 HABARANA / POLONNARUWA
Explore the ancient royal capital of Polonnaruwa, one of the most beautiful centres in Sri Lanka’s cultural heritage. Discover on foot, or by bicycle (optional - to be paid locally ), the wonderful treasures that remain in the archaeological park including the four beautiful rock-cut Buddha statues at Gal Vihara Temple. Afterwards you have the opportunity to visit a local village house where you can experience first-hand the cooking methods at Priyamale Gedara and enjoy a traditional lunch. Afterwards join a jeep safari in the Minneriya National Park, one of the best places in Sri Lanka to see wild elephants. (B, D)

DAY 4 HABARANA – DAMBULLA – KANDY
Proceed to Kandy, stopping en-route to visit the UNESCO World Heritage site, Dambulla Cave Temple, the best-preserved cave temple complex in Sri Lanka. This Buddhist place of worship is thought to date back to the
1st century, and houses the country’s most sacred Buddha images. Also visit Matale Spice Garden where you will have the opportunity to wander this fragrant garden to see the different spices including nutmeg, pepper vines, cloves trees, curry, cinnamon, and the precious cardamom (which grows in the shade of high jungle trees and can only be harvested by hand). On arrival in Kandy check in at Cinnamon Citadel, this hotel is secluded in the mountains and has beautiful views of the river and forested area. Then visit the Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic, a complex said to hold the tooth of the Lord Buddha himself. (B, D)

DAY 5 KANDY – NUWARA ELIYA

Your journey today leads you through the scenic high country to Nuwara Eliya. On arrival in Nuwara Eliya, begin your exploration of the city where the colourful chaos of Sri Lanka meets colonial bungalows, well-tended lawns and red telephone boxes. Discover the journey from tree to cup of the world-famous high-grown Ceylon Tea. With your expert guide, walk through a local tea plantation, meet with a Tea plucker and visit the factory to see the processing stage followed by a tea-tasting session. Check in at the Grand Hotel, the heritage hotel holds a unique character which dates back to a by-gone era. In the afternoon enjoy high tea at the hotel where you can enjoy a selection of small sandwiches washed down with a cup of local tea. (B, D)

DAY 6 NUWARA ELIYA – YALA NATIONAL PARK
Early this morning depart Nuwara Eliya where you continue onto to Yala National Park, staying at Cinnamon Wild Yala. This unique hotel offers a wild exterior (literally)! Located on the border or Yala National Park by a large lake, with abundant wildlife; crocodiles, boar, deer, monkeys and many species of birds are common in the hotel surrounds with the occasional visit by a leopard and wild elephants. This afternoon enjoy your jeep safari in Yala, the second largest National Park in Sri Lanka and home to a great diversity of wildlife, most famous of which is the leopard. Look out for elephants, sloth bears, water buffaloes, wild boars, crocodiles and of course leopards. Yala is known as one of the best places in the world to spot the elusive big cat. (B, D)

DAY 7 YALA NATIONAL PARK – GALLE – BENTOTA
Travel the scenic route from Sri Lanka’s southeast coast to Galle in the southwest. En route visit beautiful beaches, the Wevurukannala Buddha Statue (the largest in the island) and stilt fishermen in Koggala. Once in Galle you will enjoy a tour of the Heritage listed fort area with its charming laneways, rich trading history and Dutch-colonial buildings. Your last stop for the day is the stunning beach town of Bentota. Check in to the Cinnamon Bey Resort, only a few steps away from a golden beach its a great place to un-wind as your Sri Lankan your journey nears its end (B, D)

DAY 8/9 BENTOTA
