Day 1 Colombo to Negombo
Welcome to Sri Lanka. Upon arrival at Bandaranaike International Airport, you will be warmly greeted and introduced to your private English-speaking chauffeur guide. From here, enjoy a short transfer to the coastal town of Negombo, a relaxed seaside enclave known for its colonial heritage and golden beaches, the perfect place to unwind after your international flight.

The remainder of the day is at leisure to relax, perhaps enjoy a walk along the beach or simply settle into your surroundings

Day 2 Negombo to Dambulla (Cultural Triangle)
After breakfast, begin your journey inland towards Sri Lanka’s Cultural Triangle, a region rich in ancient history and UNESCO World Heritage sites. En route, visit the Millennium Elephant Foundation in Rambukkana, where you’ll gain insight into the care and conservation of Sri Lanka’s elephants. This ethical experience allows you to observe these gentle giants up close while learning about their history and ongoing protection efforts.

Continue through scenic countryside to Dambulla, surrounded by lush greenery and ancient sites for a two night stay.

Day 3 Sigiriya Rock Fortress & Leisure
Rise early this morning to visit the iconic Sigiriya Rock Fortress, often referred to as the “Eighth Wonder of the World.” Climb to the summit of this ancient royal citadel, passing the famous lion’s paw entrance, vibrant frescoes and mirror wall, before being rewarded with breathtaking panoramic views across the surrounding jungle. This UNESCO-listed site is one of Sri Lanka’s most unforgettable experiences.

Return to the hotel for breakfast, with the remainder of the day at leisure to relax or enjoy the resort facilities.

Day 4 Dambulla to Kandy
After breakfast, travel towards Kandy, the cultural and spiritual heart of Sri Lanka. En route, stop at a spice garden in Matale, where you’ll discover the island’s rich spice heritage and learn about cinnamon, cardamom, pepper and other aromatic spices that have shaped Sri Lanka’s history and cuisine.

Arrive in Kandy and visit the revered Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic, one of Buddhism’s most important pilgrimage sites. Later, enjoy a traditional cultural dance performance, showcasing vibrant costumes, drumming and ancient storytelling.

Located along the banks of the Mahaweli River, Cinnamon Citadel offers a serene setting with lush surroundings, combining comfort with a peaceful riverside atmosphere.

Day 5 Kandy to Nuwara Eliya (Tea Country)
This morning, journey into Sri Lanka’s scenic highlands, where the landscape transforms into rolling tea plantations, misty mountains and cool-climate scenery. Visit a working tea factory to learn about the production of world-famous Ceylon tea, from leaf to cup, followed by a tasting experience.

Continue to Nuwara Eliya, often referred to as “Little England” for its colonial charm, cool climate and picturesque setting. Enjoy a brief exploration of the town, including its gardens and lake.

Day 6 Scenic Train Journey & Yala National Park
After breakfast, transfer to the railway station for one of the highlights of your journey - a scenic train ride through Sri Lanka’s breathtaking hill country. Travel through rolling tea plantations, misty valleys and charming villages en route to Ella, widely regarded as one of the most beautiful train journeys in the world.

Upon arrival, continue by road to Yala National Park, passing through diverse landscapes as you descend from the highlands to the southern plains.

Day 7 Yala National Park & South Coast to Hikkaduwa
Rise early for an exciting safari in Yala National Park, one of Sri Lanka’s premier wildlife reserves. Explore the park by jeep in search of elephants, crocodiles, birdlife and the elusive leopard, all within a diverse landscape of forests, lagoons and open plains.

After breakfast, travel along the southern coastline towards Hikkaduwa. En route, visit the historic Galle Dutch Fort, a UNESCO World Heritage site known for its cobbled streets, colonial architecture and ocean views.

Continue to your beachside resort for a relaxing end to your journey.

As your itinerary concludes on Sri Lanka’s south coast, many guests choose to extend to make the most of their time on the island. Additional nights at a beach resort are a wonderful way to relax and explore further and can easily be combined with a post-tour Colombo package to experience the capital over one or two days prior to departure.
For those with late evening flights, late check-out options can also be arranged for your comfort and convenience (additional cost applies).
