DAY 1 NEGOMBO
Your tour commences with an arrival transfer to your hotel, The Wallawwa. Set in 200-year-old tropical gardens just a short distance from the airport and the seaside city of Negombo, the boutique 18th century manor house holds a unique charm and exudes serenity.

DAY 2 NEGOMBO – SIGIRIYA
Depart Negombo and travel along the bustling Kandy Road past small villages, chaotic towns and roadside carts selling an array of local produce. On arrival, enjoy the balance of the day at leisure at the Jetwing Vil Uyana. Secluded in tranquil marshland the exclusive sanctuary is a mystifying blend of rustic tradition and natural magnificence.
In the evening join a resident naturalist on a Loris walk around the grounds of the hotel. The Loris is the smallest recorded primate in Sri Lanka and is facing extinction. Learn about the conservation efforts and explore its beautiful habitat. (B, D)

DAY 3 SIGIRIYA
Today visit nearby Sigiriya Rock Fortress, or Lion Rock, one of Sri Lanka’s most iconic sights. Take the opportunity to climb to the top of this striking rock with its sheer vertical walls supporting the remnants of an ancient 5th century city. (B, D)
DAY 4 SIGIRIYA – MATALE – KANDY
Proceed to Kandy, stopping en-route to visit the UNESCO World Heritage site Dambulla Cave Temple, the best-preserved cave temple complex in Sri Lanka. This Buddhist place of worship is thought to date back to the 1st century, and houses the country’s most sacred Buddha images. On arrival in Kandy check in at your hotel, before an evening Kandyan Dance performance, a colourful spectacle including fire-walkers. Overnight at the Stone House, a 1940’s colonial mansion located just 5 minutes from the centre of Kandy but feels a world away with its serene location, breathtaking views and luxurious accommodation. DAY 5 KANDY
Today explore the UNESCO listed city of Kandy by Tuk-Tuk. Wander through the local bazaar, arts and craft museum as well as the local fruit and vegetable market. Enjoy the opportunity to walk along the lake and admire the view of the misty hills and green forests. Visit the Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic, a complex said to hold the tooth of the Lord Buddha himself. Continue to the Royal Botanical Garden the largest and most impressive gardens in Sri Lanka. DAY 6 KANDY – GAMPOLA – NUWARA ELIYA
Continue through the scenic high country to Nuwara Eliya, stopping en-route at Elpitiya Walauwa heritage house in Gampola to watch a cooking demonstration and savor authentic Sri Lankan cuisine. In Nuwara Eliya, often referred to as Little England, you will find colonial bungalows, well-tended lawns and red telephone boxes a nod to the city’s colonial heritage. Stay at Goatfell, a former tea bungalow which still resonates with the charm of a by-gone era. Enjoy a drink by the warm crackling fire after an enjoyable day spent in the cool climate of Sri Lanka’s stunning hill country. (B, L, D)

DAY 9 YALA NATIONAL PARK

DAY 10 YALA NATIONAL PARK – RATHGAMA
Travel the scenic route from Sri Lanka’s southeast coast to Galle in the southwest. En route visit Tangalle Turtle Hatchery where volunteers provide a haven for turtles to hatch without the stresses of nature and treatment to injured turtles. Also stop at beautiful beaches, the Wevurukannala Buddha Statue (the largest in the island) and stilt fishermen in Koggala. Afterwards your last stop for the day is the small beach town of Rathgama at the Aditya Resort (Shanti suite), a boutique hotel sitting on a secluded beach where you can relax under a palm tree and enjoy the personalised service. DAY 11 RATHGAMA / GALLE
